#GivingTuesday: Meet Vicki, a CCF Success Story
Vicki and her husband were the owners of a thriving medical supply and services company, but when she suffered a stroke that lead to the loss of that business, divorce and homelessness followed. She continued to work through temporary employment agencies, but getting ahead while operating without housing has been terribly difficult.
At Community Care Fellowship, Vicki has been able to access shower and laundry services, hygiene items, meals and friendly fellowship. Recently, our in-house career counseling program outfitted her with interview clothing, including work shoes and eyeglasses. We connected her with one of our career partners and she will attend orientation this week for the Marriott hotel chain. She will also soon have an apartment of her own through one of CCF’s housing partners.
Sometimes, a nutritious meal or a hot shower is only the beginning. When you give to CCF, you allow us to meet the immediate physical needs of our guests so that we may begin addressing long-term needs like housing, employment, and security.
On this Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your help raising $4,100 to provide 10,000 meals for our community’s most fragile neighbors in 2019. With your support, we will continue to stabilize our guests through immediate need programs and change the trajectory of their lives through transformational programs. Community Care Fellowship has served our neighbors in the East Nashville community for more than 35 years by providing basic needs like warm meals, showers, and laundry. We’re proud of our track record for being good stewards of our supporters’ contributions as well—last year, we served over 33,000 meals at a cost of approximately 41 cents per meal.
